The Evolution of the Legendary Porsche 911

Porsche has reminded us of the legendary Porsche 911 and the changes that were introduced with each successive generation.

The 911 is one of the most popular sports car models in the world, and has recently hit 1 million units sold (before you ask, it’s green). To celebrate, Porsche launched a new 911 trim, but they’ve also made a new video depicting the various generations of this fantastic car.

The video takes us on a chronological journey through all the generations of the 911, with a handy counter showing the sales numbers. Even though the model has changed quite a while over the years, Porsche has stayed true to the basic concept of a rear-engine 2+2 coupe. And the concept has been hugely successful.

Taking into account the starting price of about $230 thousand for a 911 coupe, 1 million cars produced is a marvelous figure. The fact that over 70 percent of Porsches ever made are still on the road speaks volumes about their quality as well.
