Throwback Ad: Citroën DS

Citroën DS shows that Audi’s laser beams aren’t necessarily the most revolutionary milestone in lighting technology

The laser high beams in Audi’s forthcoming special edition R8 LMX may very well light the path for automotive head lamp technology (literally), but the quirky French engineers at Citroën had an equally quirky contribution to automotive history back in 1968-swivelling headlights. The feature was fitted to high-specification DS models which had a number of other features including hydropneumatic suspension, which turned the post-World War II motoring world on its head.

To showcase their newest lighting technology, Citroën dreamt up an ad that focussed on just one of the car’s key features: seeing around corners.
