Toyota Hilux takes up residence in The Motoring Guru’s garage
Toyota’s Hilux has been one of Australia’s most popular nameplates for some time, with the ute range appealing to a number of different people with a variety of different needs. We’re currently testing the current seventh generation model in SR5 trim. The SR5 variant is aimed at those who need the trusty Toyota ute for work, but also perhaps for buyers who want a go anywhere ute for leisure.
We’re a fan of the Hilux’s chunky looks, solidity, its comfortable if slightly bouncy ride and its effective infotainment and satellite navigation system. Additionally, the 3.0 litre diesel that is shared with the Prado is noticeably more energetic in the lighter Hilux, although we find the steering to be a little heavy. Full review coming soon.
