Toyota’s new 2.8 diesel a good match for the 2016 Toyota Hilux SR5 diesel

The 2016 Toyota Hilux has already proved itself as a tough, rugged, comfortable and handsome pickup, but the 4.0 litre V6 offered isn’t the best form of propulsion for the Hilux.

The V6 is smooth, refined and even sweet sounding, but it’s thirst for octane infused beverages and shortfall of torque means it might not be suited to a large number of customers, especially those who may need to tow or carry large loads, or travel significant distances.

This time around, we’re driving the 2016 Toyota Hilux SR5 diesel, fitted with Toyota’s reasonably new 2.8 litre diesel, which is also found in the Fortuner and Prado.

Fitted with the diesel, the Hilux is more responsive and evidently more economical.
