All-new Volvo V90 large estate unveiled in Stockholm
Volvo Cars has lifted the sheets of its all new Volvo V90 luxury wagon at a media event in Stockholm. The Volvo V90 is aimed at the likes of the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class estates, as well as Audi’s A6 Avant.
The Volvo V90 is built upon the Swedish firm’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) which is shared with the V90’s sedan equivalent the S90, as well as the lauded Volvo XC90 SUV.
Technology and engine options are also expected to be similar, with the V90 offering autonomous driving assistance, animal detection technology, run off road mitigation as well as entertainment systems such as Apple’s CarPlay.
“The modern stylish estate is all about the intriguing combination of a luxurious experience with the functional origins of the estates silhouette. The sophisticated ambience of our new Volvo interiors is combined with a great cargo space, providing the right kind of functionality – whether through connectivity or cargo and storage solutions,” said Mr Kevin McCann, managing director of Volvo Car Australia.

Expect 2.0 litre petrol and diesel engines to be available, along with the firm’s petrol/electric T8 hybrid drivetrain “we have a very strong offer in the V90. Our PowerPulse technology is designed to deliver a distinct performance boost to our diesel engine, while the T8 Twin Engine petrol plug-in hybrid will deliver over 300kW and a pure electric range of around 50 km” said Mr Kevin McCann.
Local launch dates, specifications and pricing are yet to be confirmed.
