Volkswagen Caddy Beach Unveiled

Volkswagen Caddy Beach allows you to camp at the beach…or wherever else you may desire

Volkswagen Australia has revealed a leisure variant of its Caddy light commercial vehicle. Dubbed the Caddy Beach, the newest special edition member of the Caddy family is based on the Caddy Maxi Trendline and includes a fold out bed, a walkthrough tent at the tailgate and two fold out camp chairs and a table.

There’s also tray tables for the rear passengers, block out curtains for the windows, storage bags and even a rechargeable torch. There are five seats in the cabin, and Volkswagen promises that the Caddy Beach can carry the whole family and all their camping/beach related paraphernalia without the need to tow a trailer.

Additional features that distinguish the Caddy Beach from other variants in the Caddy line-up include 17’ alloys, a “Beach” decal, xenon headlights, tinted taillights and dark roof rails. Buyers have a choice of six paint colours.

Safety is also at the forefront of the Caddy Beach, with autonomous braking (Front Assist with City Emergency Brake), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist and fog lights with cornering functionality all as standard.

Six speakers are placed around the cabin linked to a Composition Media infotainment system with App-Connect, this should help keep things groovy on those beach getaways.

Performance is provided by an engine that produces 220Nm of torque and is mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission.

The Caddy Beach will be priced from $44,990 when it launches in the final quarter of this year. Further details will be announced closer to launch.
