Small Toyota Australia’s biggest seller for three months running
The Toyota Corolla has dominated the Australian sales chart for the third month running from February to April and 64,285 new Toyotas found homes in the first four months of 2015 with the Corolla range comprising 14,900 of these sales.
Toyota’s yearly sales to date are a two per cent increase in sales compared to the same period in 2014 and nearly 28,000 sales ahead of Australia’s second-ranking brand, Mazda.
Additionally, Toyota sold 15,299 vehicles in April, nearly the combined total of both Mazda on 8,068 sales and Holden with 7,072 sales.
The HiLux light commercial range was also Australia’s second biggest selling vehicle with the Japanese brand shifting 2,789 units in April 2015, just over 200 units more than the same time last year. The HiAce van, LC200, Camry and Yaris models were also strong performers.
Toyota Australia’s executive director sales and marketing Tony Cramb said the company’s sales success could be attributed to improving customer service, new models and clever marketing “”We are about to enter an intense period of model launches with Toyota dealers able to offer at least 10 new or substantially revised vehicles over the next 10 months,” Mr Cramb said.
“A highlight will be the arrival later this month of a Camry range that has undergone a transformation with dramatic new styling and other improvements we are proud to deliver to the market,” Cramb added.
