Toyota Celebrates 13 Years as Australia’s Favourite Brand

Toyota enjoys record sales in 2015

Toyota reigns as Australia’s number one brand, after the annual release of automotive sales data. Toyota shifted a total of 206,236 vehicles in 2015, with the Toyota Corolla still ranking as Australia’s favourite car, with the small car range totalling 42,073 units.

The Toyota Hilux was also the most popular four-wheel drive vehicle, with 35,161 examples sold and the new eight generation model helped boost sales the final quarter of 2015.

A redesigned and re-engineered locally made Camry saw 27, 653 sales, which included 5,881 hybrid models. These combined figures are a 25.4 per cent increase on the previous year.

Worthy mentions are the third generation Kluger which set a yearly sales record of 13,955 cars and the Rav4 which set an all-time high of 18,435 cars.

Toyota executive director of sales and marketing, Tony Cramb said Toyota Australia and its dealership plan to build upon 2015 sales figures to deliver even greater customer satisfaction “the next 12 months will provide the full-year benefits of 13 new or refreshed models that arrived in 2015, delivering on our promise to continue offering ever-better cars,” Mr Cramb said. “Equally as important, we will continue to implement a cultural shift throughout our company and dealer network, focused on ensuring owners and prospects are treated as valued guests of the Toyota family,” he said.
“We deeply appreciate the high degree of loyalty to Toyota shown by a significant proportion of the Australian population – and we are determined to establish industry-leading standards in every aspect of those relationships.”
