Suzuki has added a flagship Vitara RT-X turbo diesel variant to its popular Vitara small SUV range. Powered by a 1.6 litre turbo diesel that develops 88kW @ 3,750rpm and an impressive 320Nm @ 1,750rpm, the newest Vitara sips a miserly 4.9 litres per 100 kilometres of diesel on a combined cycle.

Priced from $35,990, the Suzuki Vitara RT-X diesel joins naturally aspirated and sporty turbo petrol options and standard equipment in the Suzuki Vitara RT-X diesel includes Suzuki’s AllGrip 4×4 system, a multimedia system with Apple CarPlay capability, seven airbags, reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, dual zone climate control, keyless entry and start leather trim with suede inserts and a panoramic glass roof.

Suzuki Automobiles Australia boss Andrew Moore said that the decision to bring the Vitara diesel to Australia was based on customer feedback “The addition of turbo engines to the exciting Vitara has seen demand for the vehicle grow even further.  We’ve listened to our customers who have been asking for a diesel option, so are excited we can deliver. By adding this diesel engine variant to the line up, the Vitara now has a comprehensive range of engine and price options to suit any customer.”

“With the popularity of Vitara rapidly growing plus the introduction of our first small segment hatch, Baleno, to compete with Corolla and i30, Suzuki’s growth is set to continue.”
