Suzuki Swift Sport Confirmed for Oz!

New Suzuki Sport will gain turbo power and super light weight

Suzuki may have created a monster with the new Suzuki Swift Sport – and in a good way. The local arm of Suzuki has confirmed that local versions will be powered by the 1.4 litre turbo from the Vitara that will produce around 100kW and a healthy 230Nm of torque. And it’ll weigh just 970kgs. Transmission choices will either be a six-speed manual or automatic.

The Swift Sport sounds very tasty indeed.

Suzuki Motor Corporation Chief Engineer Mr. Masao Kobori stated, “It’s lighter, sharper, and quicker. It’s more aggressive and emotive, but we’ve also refined the elements that make it practical to use every day.”

Mr. Kobori continued, “With the third generation we’ve moved the game on to the next level as a genuine hot hatch. And I’m confident that when you drive it you’re going to go ‘WOW!’.”

The new Suzuki Swift Sport will arrive in showrooms from the first quarter of 2018. More information will be available closer to launch.
