New Suzuki Jimny to be well specced when it lands in Oz
Suzuki Australia has confirmed specifications for Australian-bound Jimny 4x4s. And, yes, purists will be delighted to know that they will be proper off-roaders, just like the previous generations.
Standard equipment will include a fair dinkum ladder frame chassis, Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO 4WD system, which will incorporate a low-range transfer gear, which will allow drivers to easily switch between 2H (2WD-high gear), 4H (4WD-high gear) and 4L (4WD-low gear). There’s also hill descent control to help you tackle steeper gradients, lane departure warning to help make sure you don’t side swipe anyone, a reversing camera to reduce the chances of you backing into anything, electronic stability control, LED headlights with automatic high beam. The headlights are complimented by LED daytime running lights and fog lights.
The new Jimny rides on 15-inch alloy wheels.
Inside you’ll find dual-zone climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with satellite navigation and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, six airbags, cruise control and tinted windows.
As previously reported, power will come from a 1.5 litre four-cylinder engine that generates 75kW and is mated to a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. The manual can be yours from $23,990 and the auto from $25,990.
Should you want your Jimny to stand out in the crowd, maybe you can opt from one of the two-tone paint schemes that are on offer: Kinetic Yellow + Bluish Black Pearl, Brisk Blue Metallic + Bluish Black Pearl or Chiffon Ivory Metallic + Bluish Black Pearl. Going two tone will set you back an extra $1,250.
Jungle Green, Medium Gray and Superior White are also on offer. Metallic paint will set you back another $500.
Suzuki Australia General Manager – Automobile, Mr. Michael Pachota said the return of the legendary 4WD into Australia is a proud moment.
“I am extremely proud to launch the all-new Jimny in Australia – a global winning recipe that dates back to the 1970’s. Five years in development has captured 40+ years of heritage that makes this vehicle an icon in the Australian 4×4 landscape.”
The All-New Suzuki Jimny goes on sale on Australia Day.
