SsangYong Reveals Tougher Long Wheelbase Musso Ute

New Long Wheelbase Musso packs more space, grunt and versatility

SsangYong has unveiled a bigger, more powerful and tougher version of its new Musso ute. It’s the long wheelbase Musso and, its 310mm longer than the standard Musso, bringing total length to 5.4. The wheelbase has been extended by 110mm.

It can carry more, too, with a payload increase of 30 per cent, jumping from 790kg to 1020kg. Rear leaf springs help support the extra weight. Ride height has increased by 15mm.

The 2.2 litre turbo diesel has also been tweaked, with torque increasing from 400Nm to 420Nm, but the peak delivery remains the same at 1,400rpm.

A bespoke grille helps set the long wheelbase Musso aside from other models in the range.

Three trim levels will be offered, as per the standard wheelbase models: EX, ELX and Ultimate. Autonomous emergency braking will be standard along with forward collision warning. The ELX gains blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning and rear cross traffic alert and the Ultimate adds a 360degree camera system.

Further information on specifications and pricing will be revealed closer to launch. The long wheelbase Musso should reach Aussie shores by the second quarter of 2019.
