Land Rover to tease crowds with Range Rover Sport SVR at Goodwood Hill climb.
A hulking off-roader is probably one of the least likely cars you’d expect to say participate in the historic Goodwood Hill climb event, which is held from the 27th to the 29th of June. But, Land Rover is using the opportunity to showcase (and show off) the fastest and most powerful production Land Rover yet, the prototype and camouflage clad 404kW Range Rover Sport SVR taking part in the “First Glance” category.
SVR is a new moniker to the British brand and, the new model has been developed by the recently formed Jaguar Land Rover Special Operations team, who will work to ensure that the badge is stuck to the rumps of only the fastest and best handling Land Rovers moving forward.
Land Rover is keeping driveline details-404kW power output aside- a secret, but fans should expect a growling V8 soundtrack which could possibly be an evolution of the existing 5.0 litre Supercharged V8 fitted to a number of current Rangie Sport models.
The debut of the SVR badge suggests that Land Rover is serious about claiming its share of buyers who may have traditionally opted for an AMG fettled or high-end Porsche SUV. The Range Rover Sport SVR is scheduled to go on sale in 2015.
