Polestar 1 Prototypes Enter Production

Tesla hunting Polestar 1 coming closer to production reality

Volvo – sorry, Polestar – has put a batch of prototypes of its first all-electric performance car, the Polestar 1 into production in Sweden.

The fleet of 34 cars are assembled by hand in Gothenburg and are used for a variety of different purposes including crash testing and fine tuning on-road dynamics. Additionally, the refinement of carbon fibre production techniques, before they are transfer production equipment to a new facility that will manufacture customer cars in China.

“The assembly of the VP cars means that the Polestar 1 has taken its next step towards production,” says Thomas Ingenlath, Chief Executive Officer of Polestar.

“This first batch of 34 cars will enable our engineers to tune the finer details of the car, ensuring that the Polestar 1 is perfect when we start to produce customer cars in the middle of next year.”
