2017 Nissan TITAN Crew Cab

Monstrous Nissan Titan Lands in Australia

American-built Nissan Titan pick-up arrives in Australia with 5.0 litre Cummins turbo diesel V8 and huge 5.2 tonne towing capacity

Engineering firm Performax – they’re a QLD based company that import and convert American cars for sale in Australia – have announced that they will be selling the Nissan Titan pick up locally.

The flagship Nissan Titan XD Platinum Reserve crew-cab is currently on display at the Queensland Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow which is being held in Brisbane this week.

The Titan Platinum Reserve is powered by a muscular 5.0 litre Cummins turbo diesel V8 that produces 235kW of power and 752Nm of torque. That big V8 is mated to a six-speed automatic that sends power to all four-wheels, and there’s a low-range gearbox and on demand 4×4, should you wish to take it into the rough stuff.

The Titan is said to be more than accomplished at off-roading, with 20 inch wheels, extensive underbody protection and 360 degree cameras to help the driver negotiate gnarly tracks.

If towing and carrying heavy things are on your agenda – and if you’re buying something this big they probably will be – you’ll be please to know that the Titan Platinum Reserve can carry up to 900kg in the tray and will haul up to a huge 5.2 tonnes.

The tray also in-built lighting and secure storage boxes. Handy.

Performax says the Titan is suitable for towing horse floats, caravans, boats and small houses (we made the last part up).

An interesting feature is the Trailer Light Check, which allows you to check if they trailer lights are working correctly from the key fob.

Inside, there is ample space for five people, the seats are swathed in leather, the front captains’ chairs are heated, cooled and have eight-way electric adjustment and there is a memory function for the seats, mirrors and steering wheel position.

The price for this magnificence? Well, it’s not cheap at $139,000 plus on roads. But Performax is importing a whole range of Titans including the base single cab from $105,000 and the sporty (if you could call it ‘sporty’) PRO-4X complete with Bilstein suspension from $135,000.

All Performax converted vehicles are backed by a three-year warranty and 24 hour roadside assist.
