New Mazda6 Revealed

New Mazda6 offers turbo engine, more comfort and even more style

Mazda Australia has just revealed details of its thoroughly revised new Mazda6 range. Key changes include new engines, more technology and smoother styling.

Perhaps the most interesting upgrade is the introduction of the 2.5 litre SKYACTIV-G 2.5T turbo engine that produces 170kW and 420Nm, along with a revised 2.2 litre twin turbo diesel that now develops 140kW and 450Nm and an upgraded naturally aspirated 2.5 litre unit that now features cylinder de-activation technology. All engines are mated to a six-speed automatic that sends power to the front wheels.

All new Mazda6 models now come with a suite of driver assistance technologies that include adaptive cruise control with stop/go function along with an active bonnet to reduce injuries to pedestrians in the event of a collision.

The flagship Atenza also gains a 360degree camera system.

The chassis too, has come in for a tweak, making for a more progressive and dynamic drive, whilst reducing cabin noise and improving refinement.

The new Mazda6 gains LED headlights with built in foglamps, and that grille with a mesh-style insert sits lower, giving the car a wider more elegant look. The rear has been mildly revised with a new boot lid, bumper and exhaust outlets.

There are also new 17 and 19inch alloy wheel designs.

Inside, the new Mazda6 benefits from all-new front seats, and the Ateza gains seat cooling in addition to seat heating for the very first time. Moreover, the Atenza gets Walnut Brown nappa leather with suede style inserts for a more upmarket feel and look.

Managing Director of Mazda Australia, Vinesh Bhindi, said New Mazda6 sets a new standard for the segment, taking a step up in class and refinement.

“Mazda6 has long been a firm favourite with discerning drivers and these latest upgrades take it above the mainstream sedan fray, changing the idea of what an affordable, value-packed midsize sedan or wagon can and should be,” he said.
