New Kia Sorento SUV to bring more tech, style and refinement
A new Kia Sorento will roll into Australian showrooms from June 7 and the Korean manufacturer promises that the mid-sized SUV is more able in all areas. Three trim levels will be available from launch: Si, SLi and Platinum and the range starts at $40,990 for the Si petrol through to $55,990 for the top of the range Platinum diesel.
A headlining change is the driving experience, with Kia’s local engineering team spending hundreds of hours to ensure that the third generation Sorento is better suited to Australian conditions.
Safety was also a priority during development, with all models fitted with anti-lock brakes, electronic stability management, hill start assist, six airbags, a rear reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors. Kia Sorento Platinum models gain adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.
Higher quality materials and a reduction in noise, vibration and harshness give the cabin a more premium feel. Seven seats and satellite navigation are standard across the range.
Buyers will have the choice between a new 3.3 litre petrol V6 that is available on Kia Sorento SLi and Si models and develops 199kW of power and 318Nm of torque and drives the front-wheels. A 2.2 litre turbo diesel which is available on all trim levels is carried over from the previous model, and develops 147kW and 441Nm, sending power to an active all-wheel drive system. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic.
“Sorento represents the best of all worlds, with the promise of adventure and the guarantee of day-to-day refinement, safety and comfort for a growing family” said Kia Motors Australia Chief Operating Officer Damien Meredith.
