Mental Jaguar XE SV Project 8 laps the Nurburgring in 7.21 seconds
When Jaguar announced that they were testing a hyper XE sedan with a supercharged 5.0 litre V8 we were excited. Said XE is called the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 and its V8 produces 441kW, allowing it to rocket from 0-100km/h in just 3.7 seconds and will roar on to a top speed of 322km/h.
The Jaguar XE SV 8 was developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) team, and to really test the car’s mettle, they lapped around the haloed Nurburgring circuit in Germany, with a lap time of just 7.21 seconds. The fastest ever time for a four door sedan. Ever. It’s especially impressive when you realise that the track is 20.8 kilometres in length. This is one seriously quick car.
Mark Stanton, SVO Director, said: “The SVO design and engineering team’s mission was to create the most track-focused road-legal Jaguar in history – not only the fastest, but also the most agile. As a result, only the roof and front door skins of Project 8’s body are carried-over unaltered from XE and 75 per cent of its mechanical hardware is new. This astonishing Nürburgring Nordschleife record validates the success of such extensive changes.”
Only 300 examples of the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 will be made, all cars will be left hand drive – they needed to make it left hand drive to stuff in that big V8 – and in the UK it’ll be priced from £149,995.
