Red hot Jaguar F-Pace SVR to get V8 grunt and 425kW of power
Jaguar and Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations have been quietly developing an SVR version of its rather lovely F-Pace SUV. Appropriately named the F-Pace SVR, the high performance version of the F-Pace will borrow the tried, tested and very brutal 5.0 litre supercharged V8 and eight-speed automatic drivetrain found in the Range Rover Sport SVR and Jaguar F-Type SVR.
British publication Autoexpress predicts that F-Pace SVR’s V8 will match the updated Range Rover Sport SVR for grunt, so expect around 425kW and 700Nm and a 0-100km/h sprint time or around 4.2 seconds. The F-Pace SVR will also be the heaviest in the F-Pace in the range with an estimated weight of around 1800kg.
Jaguar is said to be developing a front end with large air dams to feed the huge powerplant, and expect huge brakes and a finessed chassis that will help to ensure that the F-Pace SVR will be the finest handling SUV in its class, or on the market even.
Competition will be tough, with the F-Pace SVR pitted up against the likes of the Porsche Macan Turbo, Merc GLC 63 and the upcoming BMW X3 M.
The Jaguar F-Pace SVR is expected to make its official debut at next year’s New York Auto Show, with UK sales commencing in late 2018. There is no word as to whether the car will be sold in Australia.
