Honda Accord Sport Hybrid the first of Honda’s family of Earth Dreams hybrid cars

Honda has added a new model to its new generation “Earth Dreams” hybrid fleet in the form of the new Honda Accord Sport Hybrid. The well-equipped Accord flagship is priced from $58,990 plus on road costs and other government charges.

The Accords’ drivetrain is called Multi-Mode Drive or i-MMD combines 2.0 litre DOHC four cylinder engine and the two-motor hybrid system with a lithium-ion battery to deliver combined power of 146kW and 307Nm of torque. The i-MMD allows the driver switch between three different modes: electric, hybrid or the petrol engine working alone. Power is sent to the front wheels through a constantly variable transmission.

Combined fuel consumption is 4.6 litres per 100 km and 107 grams of CO2 per km.

Equipment levels are impressive too, and the standard Accord Sport Hybrid package includes: collision mitigation system, lane keeping assist, Honda’s LaneWatch blind spot monitoring system, a multi-angle reversing camera, satellite navigation, leather trim and cornering headlights.
