Ford F150 Raptor V8 to Return

The ferocious F150 Raptor V8 is making a comeback

Rumours emerging from the United States are suggesting that the all-new third generation Ford F150 will be powered by a supercharged V8 engine. The new F150 Raptor is slated for release in two to three years’ time, and will replace the second generation twin-turbo V6 model which produces 335kW/691Nm EcoBoost V6 engine and is mated to a new 10-speed automatic transmission.

The V6 Raptor which drew criticism for its smaller engine, despite being quicker than the first generation V8.

Ford is supposedly whipping up a special edition variant of the current Raptor to compete with the thumping Dodge Ram TRX, which is also powered by a supercharged and HEMI V8. The special edition Raptor will have the Mustang GT500’s supercharged 5.2 litre V8 that develops 522kW, similar to that of its Dodge rival.

There’s no word as to whether the third generation F150 Raptor will be sold through official channels, but it’ll most likely be brought Down Under by third party importers.
