Citroen Teases Fans with DS E-tense

402hp DS E-tense electric sports car to pave the way for French DS brand

Citroen has unveiled the DS E-tense concept coupe, as a hint to what lies a head for the newly-formed Citroen luxury sub brand, DS which also includes the DS3 and DS5 production models.

The DS E-tense is powered by an electric 402 hp engine with 516 Nm torque and the car emits zero emissions. DS says the E-tense can also complete the 0-100 dash in a brisk 4.3 seconds. The E-tense’s range is quoted as 310 kilometres on combined cycle and 360 kilometres on urban cycle and DS has mounted the lithium-ion batteries under the carbon fibre chassis to ensure optimal weight distribution.

At the front of the car, there is an intricate arrangement of LEDs that form the headlights, as system DS calls DS ACTIVE LED VISION. Key influences in the design were avant-garde themes, luxury watches and jewellery. As part of the premium-high tech look, the radiator grille was developed with 3D printing.

Inside there is fully digital instrumentation and a 12″ digital handset along with a 10″ touchscreen that provide occupants with all necessary drive information.

Two occupants sit in seats swathed in premium watchstrap leather, cold steel dashboard inserts for a modern, futuristic look and a high-end 640W Focal stereo system. The car also features a bespoke BRM Chronographes watch that can be mounted on the car’s centre console as well as the driver’s wrist. The face is mounted on a 90 degree angle allowing for better legibility when driving.

DS says the E-tense is a one of concept car that embodies quality French luxury and the way forward for the brand.
