Craig Lowndes shows off Triple 8 Racing’s Turbo V6 and its impressive engine note
Triple 8 Racing have confirmed that they are going to dump the 5.0 litre V8 from their engine line-up, and replace it with a 3.6 litre turbo V6 that was borrowed from a Cadillac GT3 car.
The new Triple 8 V6 will make its debut in 2018 as a wildcard entry, before becoming a permanent fitment in 2019.
As expected, development is nearing its final stages, with the team fine-tuning the new turbo V6 powerplant at Norwell Motorplex in Queensland, with team drivers Jamie Whincup, Craig Lowndes and Steve Richards all taking part in development.
While some may be disappointed that Triple 8 is dropping two cylinders, team boss Roland Dane has promised that the V6 will deliver an exhaust note that will exceed fan expectations.
The team have launched the video below to allow fans to make up their minds. What do you think?
