First mid-engined Corvette, the Corvette C8, to make its international debut in July
After many a spy shot and lots of speculation, it has been confirmed that the 2020 Corvette C8 will be unveiled in July 2019.
A Corvette C8 mini site has launched on Chevrolet.com, which touts the official reveal date as the 18/07/2019.
Obviously, official specs have yet to be announced, but US-based news site Jalopnik.com suspects that the C8 range will open with the base Corvette C8 Stingray, and power will come from a 6.2 litre V8 that’ll produce 372kW (500hp) and power could grow throughout the model line-up.
It is expected that an automatic gearbox will be the only transmission choice.
Moreover, it has been rumoured that Holden will bring the Corvette Down Under. If it does, it’ll most likely have to be converted into right hand drive by HSV, just like the Camaro and most likely cost in excess of $100,000, meaning that the Corvette C8 would sell in seriously limited numbers.
