Aston Martin planning a mid-engined Ferrari 488 rival, an SUV and a host of new GT cars
British magazine Auto Express has reported that Aston Martin is preparing to release seven new models over the next seven years, thanks to a huge new cash injection and CEO Andy Palmer’s plans for the British sports car maker.
One of the key products is a new mid-engine sports car designed to go head to head with Ferrari’s stunning 488.
While a name is yet to be proposed for the 488 rival, Aston Martin says that it has turned to its mental Valkyre hypercar for inspiration. Red Bull Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey is also said to have a hand in the development process. The mid-engined Aston should go on sale sometime around 2020, and the DBX SUV should be available sometime around 2019.
Aston has also hinted at an all-electric Rapid, which will be joined by the Lagonda 1 and Lagonda 2 luxury saloons in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
A DB11 Volante will be available in 2018 as will a new Vanquish, and the DBX and bonkers Valkyrie will join the party in 2019 and the mid-engine super car in 2020.
