Suzuki publishes photos of the first all new Suzuki Jimny in decades
The first all-new Suzuki Jimny in nearly 20 years has broken cover, with the first official images showing that the tiny-tot off-road is sticking to its boxy, no nonsense roots. There’s a lot of retro flair to the exterior whilst cleverly combining a modern twist.
Inside, the interior has come in for a thoroughly modern upgrade, with Suzuki’s infotainment system and rugged but attractive styling, a far cry from the dated and utilitarian affair in the old model.
There’ll also be a choice of bright colours and two tone paint schemes. So perhaps the new Suzuki Jimny is also aimed at trendy urban explorers, too.
Drivetrains are yet to be confirmed, but we suspect a small turbocharged four-cylinder engine will be available, mated to a manual or automatic transmission. A fair-dinkum four-wheel system is guaranteed though, as is a ladder frame and 3 link axle suspension.
At this stage, the new Suzuki Jimny isn’t confirmed for down under, but Suzuki Australia is putting together a business case. Suzuki Australia General Manager – Automotive, Mr. Michael Pachota said “we can still not confirm whether New Jimny will be available for the Australian market. However, we are hopeful, with Suzuki Motor Corporation’s recent reveal, our request for this vehicle will be confirmed soon.”
