All-new Ssangyong Rexton promises strong value for money, seven seat capacity and go anywhere ability

Ssangyong is back! The off-beat Korean car maker has returned to the Australian market with a number of different models, with one of them being the seven seat Ssangyong Rexton.

The Rexton promises value for money, lots of equipment, seven seat capacity and in the case of the majority of the range, genuine off-road ability.

All models are built on a ladder chassis for greater durability.

The range opens with the Rexton EX petrol which is priced from $39,990 driveavay. The Rexton EX petrol is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine delivering 165kW of power and maximum torque of 350Nm via a 6-speed Aisin auto gearbox.

As previously mentioned, you get seven chairs as standard along with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and High Beam Assist (HBA). There’s also a touchscreen infotainment system which boasts Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for passenger convenience. Dual zone air conditioning and 18 inch alloys with a full size spare are also standard. Rear parking sensors make parking that little bit easier.

All other models in the range are powered by a 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine that produces maximum power of 133kW and maximum torque of 420Nm. The diesel power plant is mated to a seven-speed Mercedes-Benz automatic which sends power to an on demand four-wheel drive system.

The second model in the Rexton line-up is the ELX diesel which has a sticker price of $46,990 drive away. The ELX adds Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Lane Change Assist (LCA) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, 7-inch instrument cluster, tyre pressure monitoring system, tinted glass, a knee airbag, rear seat side airbag, power operated front seats with heating and cooling and heated rear seats.

Step up to the ambitiously named flagship Rexton Ultimate and you also get Ultimate a 360° camera system, speed sensitive steering, a power tailgate, HID headlamps, sunroof, rear air A/C controls and stainless steel scuff plates and 20-inch alloys.

All Ssangyong Rexton models are backed by Ssangyong’s seven year unlimited kilometre warranty, seven years’ roadside assistance and seven years’ service price menu.
