New 2019 Shelby Mustang GT hotrod to boast up to 520kW+ and it’ll be coming to Australia

The Shelby Mustang GT is making a comeback, and it’ll be sold right here in Australia, through importer Mustang Motorsport.

The standard version of the Shelby Mustang GT will produce around 340kW from its 5.0 litre V8, but it’s understood Mustang Motorsport will import a red hot 540kW+ version, complete with a supercharger from Ford Performance.

Ford has also tweaked the Ford Performance springs and sway bars and they’ve added a ‘Shelby by Borla’ cat-back exhaust to make sure that everyone can hear that shouty V8 that lies beneath the bonnet.

Aesthetically, that bonnet has been reworked and includes vents, a new grille and a new tail light panel.

The front fascia assembly is optional as part of the Premium Package which also includes Ford Performance front struts and rear shocks, plus illuminated door sills.

Should you be feeling a little nostalgic, you can opt for the Shelby GT Heritage Edition, which sees the car badged as the Shelby GT-H. The Heritage pack includes “Heritage” badging and gold stripes and wheels. The Heritage Edition is only available on black and white cars.

Customers will be able to have the Shelby GT in coupe or convertible guises and a choice of manual and automatic transmissions.

Mustang Motorsport has yet to confirm prices but the order books are now open.
