Ford’s new GT supercar looks to be a masterpiece
Ford surprised the world at the North American International Auto Show by taking wraps of its high-tech GT super car. Due around 2016, the 2016 Ford GT boasts a 3.5 litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 that spits 600bhp at the rear wheels, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission for rapid gear changes and carbon fibre construction to ensure what Ford claims one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any production car.
There are also carbon ceramic brakes to ensure the 2016 Ford GT stops as quickly as it accelerates, pushrod suspension to ensure it corners like a racing car and aero aids to assist with the dynamics.
Prices are expected to exceed US $200,000 and the monster from the Blue Oval could take on everything from the new Honda (Acura) NSX to Italian supercar exotica.
