Upgraded Outlander boasts sharper looks and hushed refinement
When we sampled the 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander earlier in the year we found it to be good value and practical but it failed to present a strong enough case for itself in a crowded local SUV segment. Mitsubishi has attempted to address these issues with a revamped 2016 model.
Our resident test car this time around is also a mid-spec XLS model so it allows us to draw a closer comparison to the old model, which also happened to be an XLS version.
Initial impressions are positive-we’re a fans of the sharper and angular new look which is also a pointer to Mitsubishi’s future design direction. Mitsubishi says the key focus of the update was to boost refinement and reduce cabin noise and they’ve exceeded. Passengers are well isolated from engine noise and the Outlander’s cabin is serene, aside from some road noise.
