Mitsubishi reveals upgraded SUV at New York International Auto Show and hints at design future
Mitsubishi Motors has used the 2015 New York International Auto Show to debut a revised Mitsubishi Outlander SUV for the 2016 model year. Mitsubishi says the key focuses of the overhaul are improved design, comfort and quality.
Aesthetically, the Outlander is the first new Mitsubishi to bear the company’s new corporate face, termed “Dynamic Shield” that gives the car a more distinctive and aggressive look. The rear has also been mildly revised.
Inside, there’s a new steering wheel, higher grade materials and more premium seat trim. Proceedings in the cabin should be quieter, as Mitsubishi has installed additional sound insulation and noise isolating front and rear windscreens.
Underneath, the suspension system has been redesigned, there is now electric power steering and the body has been stiffened for greater structural rigidity.
“The smarter, more refined 2016 Outlander is part of a major product and style rebirth taking place within MMC (Mitusbishi Motor Corporation), and reflects the company’s stronger focus on quality, technology and design excellence” said Tony Principe, Mitsubishi Motors Australia Executive Director of Marketing.
Specifics of Australian bound models will be released in the coming weeks.
