Kia reckons it will have this car called the Stonic on sale in the second half of this year.
We’re betting it will look nothing like these pics however which have a distinctly concept only flavour.
Based on the same platform as the Kia Rio hatch the finished product must be much further down the track to be this close to launch.
A new B-segment crossover Stonic is an eye-catching compact crossover with European flair, inspired it says by the form and function of its larger SUVs.
The name Stonic is derived from a combination of Speedy and Tonic, which refers to the first and last note of the musical scale.
Thus, Kia waffles, it suggests that the new model is agile and offers something new and fresh in the compact SUV segment.
These pics released today show a sweeping roofline and uniquely designed roof rack that add a sporty flavour to the baby SUV.
The unique tail lamp graphics amplify Stonic’s young and futuristic appearance.
Sharp horizontal feature lines blend with softer sculpted surfaces, to bring compact dimensions and a low centre of gravity to the class.
The European-designed cabin echoes the appearance of the exterior, with straight lines, smooth surfaces and geometric design forms.
Stonic’s interior places technology and ergonomics at its heart, with smart packaging maximising space for all occupants and a ‘floating’ HMI (human-machine interface) that seamlessly blends smartphone access with the car’s many functions.
Kia says Stonic will be the most customisable Kia ever, inside and out.
Too bad the car won’t be coming here, according to Kia Australia (they’ve got something better planned).
Never say never – that’s what I say.
